Ivy's Kitchen Foods in Penang

Ivy's Kitchen, located at Chow Thye Road has made a beautiful ending of our Penang 3 Days 2 Night Foods Hunting. This restaurant is one of must visit Nyonya Foods in Penang.

Apart of authentic Nyonya foods, their do serve a variety of Nasi Lemak (coconut rice), noodles and some home cooked food. We have ordered 4 types Nasi Lemak with some signature side dishes. The emphasis of different Nasi Lemak was the chicken/fish and all of them are served with almost same side ingredients. Each of the Nasi Lemak shared almost same side dishes

As you can see in the photo, this Nasi Lemak combo set made of coconut rice, fried chicken, fish cracker, peanuts, fried anchovies, cucumbers, hard boiled egg, and gravy sauce with anchovies. It looks normal, but taste good.

Curry Chicken Nasi Lemak is my most favourite Nasi Lemak among the others. Juicy, tender chicken meat with the flavourful sauce was a great combination. Pickles are served too. Finger licking good~

Rendang Chicken Nasi Lemak. Another recommended choice of Nasi Lemak.

For me, this Assam Prawn was certainly one of the food highlights of the day. It was springy, savory and good tasting! According to the owner and my personal experience, the Penang Nyonya foods are different with the Melaka in terms of variety of Nyonya foods and taste due to the regional. Penang Nyonya foods are more to sweet and sour due to Thailand influence, while Melaka more to spicy and "coconut" influenced by Indonesian.

Sambal stuffed hard tail mackerel was our majority voted foods! The fried fish was very crispy and fragrant with the sambal filling. It is something really pleasant to the sense of taste! It might be a little bit spicy for some people, but it is just to my liking! Kedah people what~ Haha! =P

From left to right is the Stingray Fish in Gulai Tumis Assam, Chicken Loh Bak and Joo Hoo Char. Joo Hoo Char is a traditional Nyonya mixed vegetables served with fresh lettuce, which my mum used to "encourage" me to eat more vegetables during childhood~ The Gulai Tumis Assam was sour and appetizing!
